PSHE & RSE
Intent - what do we want to achieve?
PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education) and Citizenship are important aspects of our curriculum and are taught both discretely and within our topics.
We want our children to live healthy, safe, responsible and balanced lives whilst having the knowledge, understanding and skills they need to be able to manage their lives now and in the future. Our intention is that, when children leave our school they do so with the knowledge, understanding and emotions to be able to play an active role in today’s society.
RSE -Relationships & Sex Education.
We want our children to grow up healthy, happy, safe and able to manage the challenges and opportunities of modern Britain.
Our Relationships education will put in place the building blocks for positive and safe relationships - including family, friends and online.
Implementation - how will we achieve this?
We encourage our children to develop in confidence, resilience and self-esteem and to identify and manage risk, make informed choices and understand what influences their decision.
Children will be taught about relationships, friendship, what family means and who can support them. This will be done in age-appropriate way and children will learn how to treat each other with kindness, consideration and respect.
PSHE covers three strands – health & wellbeing, relationships and living in the wider world. It also has strong links with our Science and Computing curriculum.
As our classes are mixed age, teachers will use the Twinkl PSHE/RSE Curriculum on a 2-year cycle to ensure complete coverage of all key areas.
You will also find the RSE Policy and appendices below.
Impact - what will be the impact on learning?
For all children to have a ready willingness and ability to try new things, push themselves and persevere. To have a good understanding of how to stay safe, healthy and develop good relationships. To have an appreciation of what it means to be a positive member of a diverse, multicultural society. To have a strong self-awareness, interlinked with compassion of others.
